Bonnaroo Recap Year 2

Posted on 18 June 2015

Many of those who follow New Lyfe know about our trips to Bonnaroo. This year was just as epic.

As usual, we all flew into Atlanta, picked up an RV and drove to Tennesee. Bonnaroo reminds me every year how I used to spend so much time and money on drugs, just to discover that I could get that same feeling from music. It's a revelation.

So... We get there Wed night and walk around for a bit. We light off a bunch of flying lanterns like we did last year.

The highlight for Thursday was Glass Animals. They were really fantastic and it was so packed. My girlfriend is pretty small and she loves Glass Animals, so she spent most of the time on my shoulders so that she could watch the show.

The lead singer for them was really cool because he was so blown away by the amount of people and the energy at the show. You could see how blown away he was which was great.

Friday

DEADMAU5!!! I am not a fanatic of electronic music, but I have always been a fan of Deadmau5. Before him was Kendrick Lamar which was pretty cool but I just couldn't stop thinking about how excited I was for Deadmau5. His music and his mouse head always gets me going. My girlfriend and I danced and threw glow sticks around until my legs felt as if they were going to give out.

Saturday

We spent a good portion of the day walking around Center Roo and checking out new bands. I actually was involved in another proposal lol. I went to see Childish Gambino while everyone else waited in line to get into the pit at Mumford and Sons. Apparently I missed the best show of the festival but Childish Gambino was reckless and I loved it.

Sunday

Again we moved around a lot. By Sunday you are so completely exhausted that you are just trying to get through it. However, Florence and the Machine was awesome. That girl has so much energy on stage it was phenomenal. We also spent some time at the hip hop show in the Christmas Barn and just got real rowdy to Gangster Rap for an hour or so.

After Florence was Billy Joel. I grew up on Billy Joel, so we muscled through the crowd and got as close as we could and I sang as loud as I could to every word of every song. He's so good.

Coming back on Monday is extremely depressing. You're sad it's over yet excited to get home. We drove back to Atlanta and got on the plane back to Florida. For the last two days we have all been texting each other
