Banksy's Trip to New York (so far)

Posted on 22 October 2013

Banksy's latest piece is being guarded by 24-7 security guards. The owner of the building hired these guys to rotate shifts while one of them sleeps on the couch, and protect this original piece from other graffiti vandals. This wall is now worth more money then the building.

Banksy has still yet to be caught, or photographed.  Let's take a look at his trip to New York.

New York Rat

Somehow Banksy was able to tag this entire building without being photographed, or even spotted. The message speaks for itself.

Spray Art

Banksy gave this man a few original pieces to set up a stand and sell his street art in Central park. It wasn't until Banksy told the guy to sell the pieces at half price that any art was even sold. Only a few people bought the items, none of which knew what they were buying. The people bought the canvases for $30 a piece, and instantly attained priceless art. These pieces could probably be sold for a million dollars a piece. The man who watched the stand was given multiple pieces, and without even knowing it, became a millionaire.

Slaughter House

This truck is used to transport animals to slaughter. Banksy filled it with cute, innocent and  frightened looking stuffed animals. It's beautiful, clever, and quite disturbing. Banksy calls this piece "The Sirens Of The Lambs."

World Trade

An ominous and clear image of the world trade center with a flower coming out of the crack. Banksy posted the image on his instagram account and it triggered a mad dash to find the street art.

Banksy is one of the most intriguing figures in art. No one has been able to say for sure who he is. Some say they have taken pictures of him in Jamaica, but no one knows for sure. One thing is for certain, his work is timeless, and he has captured the imagination of people around the world.

Where does it end? Is Banksy a criminal, a liberator, an activist? I think if you were to ask him, he would probably say that he is just an artist. However, even Banksy would have to admit, he is much more then that.
